1575 - in the early days
It was the early time of the lutheran reformation when Hans Knokemussen settled as a miller at the Modderkuhl watermill and farm. His familyname tells us, he must be the descedant of a butcher-family, called Knochenhauer. In towns like Hildesheim the Knochenhauer are the most mighty and rich guild. We don´t know where Hans came frombut we know that he layed the base for the family when he was first leasing and afterwards buying the mill from the monastery Neuendorf. Probably he was also the founder of our protestant-lutheran Tradition.
